A very long time ago, one of the first foamcore inserts I ever built was for Lord$ of Vega$, a very interesting area control/property management game. When I built that insert, I also found and used a set of really awesome mini poker chips as the game’s currency, because, duh.

But ever since then, the game’s just been screaming for full-size custom poker chips. I’ve been wanting to make a set for the game for literally years, and over the last few days I finally did it!

When I first set out to design these chips, I was intent on using the imagery from the paper money included with the game. The more I worked that angle, though, the more oblique it became, and I ended up scrapping the idea altogether.

And boy, am I glad I did. Coming to the realization that the paper money artwork wouldn’t fit, I attacked the problem from a different angle and designed chips to look like casino chips from the five different companies in the game. The end result, as you can see, is far more interesting and aesthetically appealing.

I love this chip set, and I’m so glad I finally got around to making it.
