About

My name’s Luke, and I’ve been playing board games for as long as I can remember. Like most American board gamers my age, I was introduced to “modern” games with Settlers of Catan in the late 90’s. Since then, I’ve gone from having a copy of Settlers, a copy of Ra, and a few Milton-Bradley games on my shelves to a collection of over 200 games.

In the last five years, I’ve been crafting custom upgrades for a lot of my games. I started with foamcore inserts and graduated all the way to full re-boxings. I’ve made a ton of new boxes, inserts, and bit-boxes using medium weight chipboard, developing methods that emulate – and sometimes exceed – the look and feel of high-quality retail game boxes and components.

I’m a component nut, and making these upgrades has been an amazing hobby-within-a-hobby for me. Here on PixelartMeeple.com, I’ll share the component upgrades I’ve acquired for so many of my games, component reviews of retail games, and help you to make the same things I make in my detailed crafting tutorials.

I hope you like what you find here. If you find my tutorials useful and decide to make something using my instructions, I’d love to see the end result. If you’d like to talk games and upgrades with me, you can find me on BGG at PixelartMeeple and Instagram @PixelartMeeple. You can also contact me via e-mail at contact(a)pixelartmeeple(dot)com. If you want to hear my somewhat succinct opinions on games, I’m also a contributor to The Five By podcast.

Thanks for stopping by, and happy gaming!
