This Mintage Monday comes with a bit of a history lesson.

Back in 2009, the Greek economy started to crash in earnest in the aftermath of the financial crisis of 2007-08. In an attempt to reverse course, Greece instituted a series of ever tightening austerity measures and pulled temporary support from the European Union.

Crisis is a game by two Greek designers set in the fictional country of Axia, where an ongoing financial crisis has resulted in a series of ever tightening austerity measures and temporary support from the overarching Economic Union.

So, with a sense of morbid irony not lost on me, I decided to upgrade the money tracks in Crisis with the most thematic metal coinage I could think of: actual pre-Euro Greek drachmas!
