Another late night Mintage Monday, brought to you by my unflappable forgetfulness!

Yokohama’s one of those rare games where the Deluxified edition isn’t solely an aesthetic upgrade; the wooden pieces and shaped meeples actually serve to make the game more functional than its retail counterpart.

The coins, though… Yeah, those are just blissfully, unapologetically aesthetic; just there for the clinky, satisfying tactility.

And they deliver. Designed to look like early 19th-century Japanese yen, they’re fantastically thematic and are a gorgeous compliment to an already beautiful game. They could be a bit larger to accommodate my giant banana fingers, but the thickness more than makes up for that.

Beautiful coins for a beautiful deluxe edition. Good job, Tasty Minstrel.
